FIA partners with Amazon Web Services and major offer to verify motorsport

In case you missed it, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) recently announced that it has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its official AI, Cloud computing, machine learning, and cloud infrastructure partners. The FIA says the agreement is designed to overhaul motorsport from the grassroots level up to Formula 1.

Under the partnership, the AWS infrastructure will power the FIA’s aerodynamic simulations for next-generation single-seater regulations, which on paper will reduce development costs and environmental impact while speeding up virtual testing. Engineering teams will also deploy AWS artificial intelligence tools to develop stricter, safer and more sustainable technical rules across the sport.

In addition to vehicle design, the team-up is also building on the digital licensing platform originally launched by AWS and the FIA last year. This means the new system will simplify administration for drivers, volunteers and officials, and will now roll out multilingual support, license renewals and event management features to National Sporting Authorities worldwide as part of the FIA’s push for dual global motorsport participation.

The agreement marks a cornerstone of the FIA’s digital modernization initiative, and will see additional core business applications and hosted services migrate to AWS in the coming years. In addition to its technological role, AWS has joined the FIA Global Partner Program and secured official partner status for the annual FIA Awards and the FIA Sustainable Innovation Series.
