First “Buy a Quebec Video Game Day” starts on November 14th

Quebec is holding its first “Buy a Quebec Video Game Day” on November 14th.

As the name suggests, the inaugural event is designed to encourage people to watch one of the many games in the province. After all, it is one of the largest game development hubs in the world, a sector that contributes $1.4 billion to the provincial GDP and houses nearly 300 studios.

To promote the initiative, La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec, the non-profit that supports the provincial gaming industry, now has an enhanced version of its Jeux vidéo du Québec (Games from Quebec) portal. Handily, this resource lists over 400 games either wholly or partially developed in the province that are available for purchase. Filters are also available to search by genre, studio, platform, age rating and more. From there you can get information about each game, watch trailers and find direct links to available platforms.

For context, here are just a few of the popular AAA and indie games made in Quebec:

This is to say nothing of the many companies that have support studios in Quebec, including Bethesda (Starfield), and gearbox (borderland) in Montreal and Beenox (various Call of duty Player) and Larian (Baldur’s Gate 3) in Quebec City.

With the Canadian gaming industry especially in mourning over legendary Alberta developer BioWare, it’s more important than ever to support Canadian game makers, especially indies, so they can continue to make great art.
