Samsung has a plan to address lens flare on its Galaxy phones

It seems like Samsung has a plan to address the lens flare on its Galaxy phones. The information comes from kro, a tipster. He claims that lens flare will still be present on upcoming models, but Samsung apparently has a plan.

Samsung’s plan to tackle lens flare includes AI

The tipster said the company is testing “Prototype software with AI processing” to address the problem. He added that the results achieved by the company are very impressive.

Lensflare will allegedly be completely removed, and the software could be implemented very quickly. He did not mention which models will debut this software, but it is possible that the Galaxy S27 series will be at the forefront of the change.

The Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra are all expected to arrive in Q1 2027. They will likely launch in January or February, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

ZEISS has an excellent way to combat lens flare

While many other companies address lens flare with hardware means, Samsung takes a different route. For example, Vivo does it via ZEISS’ T* coating, which is applied to lenses. It reduces flare, ghosting and internal light reflections.

T* coating has proven to be extremely effective, and it has been used by Vivo and Sony for years, as both companies use ZEISS optics and expertise in their smartphones.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra, as some of you already know, is expected to introduce a new sensor for the main camera. That phone will also not have a 3x telephoto camera, but will only rely on a 5x periscope telephoto camera as far as zoom cameras go. Image processing upgrades are also coming.

Note that this lens flare change may not arrive alongside the company’s upcoming flagships. That was just a wild guess. We are still not sure if this information is correct, let alone when exactly it will arrive.
