Another week, another Google AI update – the company recently announced that it is rolling out a series of significant software upgrades for AI Search that will bring improvements to everyday usability and overall performance. Part of Google’s official announcement reads:
Whether you’re looking to quickly find information, explore new topics, or discover new voices, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to dive deeper and engage with the content and sources you value. We see people taking advantage of tools that give them more choice: the number of people now using our Preferred Sources feature has grown by more than 7x since the beginning of the year. Today, we’re announcing updates to AI Search to make exploring the web easier, more visual, and more engaging.
Google says users will notice an increase with inline links embedded directly into AI answers, with key sources now appearing higher up for direct access. To help users quickly find official pages for specific tasks, Google adds that it is also testing a dedicated top-of-response display that prominently reveals these exact links alongside helpful contextual details.
For news and current events, the timely article carousels are expanding to new regions and languages worldwide, and will now feature preferred sources to streamline access to trusted coverage. In addition, end-of-response links get a visual redesign with thumbnails and a more engaging design.
