If you haven’t been able to get yourself an iPhone Duo, and you’d rather not wait for different retailers and carriers to get them back in stock, I have good news – and bad news. The good news is that Apple has confirmed that some walk-in customers will be able to purchase an iPhone Duo on launch day (October 23). The bad news is that the offer is limited.
Apple confirmed this to MacRumors, with a spokesperson reiterating that some countries will be able to sell iPhone Duo units to walk-in customers – that is, those people who have not booked a valid pre-order or confirmed collection.
“On Friday morning, our teams look forward to welcoming customers to Apple Stores to experience the iPhone Duo and the incredible iPhone line-up for themselves,” the statement read. “Apple Stores will have limited iPhone Duo for walk-in customers, and we’re working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers’ hands as soon as possible.”

What we know about iPhone Duo stock in the store
Countries confirmed to receive walk-in stock include:
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Australia
- Austria
- Belgium
- Canada
- Mexico
- Germany
- Netherlands
- Singapore
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Turkey
Several Italian Apple Stores will also have stock, but Apple did not specify which ones.
We don’t know how limited the supply of iPhone Duos will be in store, but Apple has said that they will only be available on launch day. My expectation is that, with the large amount of demand for the iPhone Duo, Apple will simply assume that stores will sell out on day one. I’d be surprised if they still had walk-in duo units available at lunchtime, to be honest.
If you’re planning to pick up an iPhone Duo from the Apple Store, my advice would be to get there early and try to be first in line – or as close as you can. Obviously, your success will differ depending on the rules in that specific store, and the mall has a lot of them.
Apple previously told customers to call back on October 24 (Saturday) if they want to try to get a pickup reservation, but it’s unclear if any will actually be available when units are all sold out tomorrow. It’s equally unclear whether tomorrow customers will be able to reserve a pickup in-store and secure a duo without setting up camp outside their front door.
Apple orders even more Duo units
Of course, the demand was extremely high, and Apple described it as “nothing short of extraordinary”. To the point where we already claimed that Apple could increase its iPhone Duo order to 10 million units, or about 30% more than it wanted for the rest of 2026.
In fact, a report from DigiTimes claims that Apple is increasing this figure 14 million units. This order apparently covers the next 12 months, rather than the few weeks left in the calendar year. If things go all according to plan, this should help ease the supply issues Apple faces over time.
DigiTimes noted that the actual output will depend on the assembly process, and whether Apple can overcome the challenges it has reported since the duo entered mass production earlier this year.
Not that this will really help you pick up an iPhone Duo on launch day. That’s why you have to go to the Apple Store before opening hours and hope for the best. Or you can check our always updated list of when all the major retailers and carriers expect to deliver new iPhone Duo orders.
