YouTube has announced that it is about to roll out a major app redesign that will bring new and personalized, AI-driven discovery feeds and a streamlined mobile navigation bar. Part of the official Google/YouTube announcement reads:
We know that viewers come to YouTube with incredibly unique interests, moods, topics to explore, and favorite ways to watch. Whether you want to relax to music, catch your favorite creator’s live stream or jump into a fun DIY tutorial, we’re rolling out new features to streamline your discovery experience, making it easier than ever to get straight to the content you love.
That said, the update brings a new prompt-based feature that allows users to build custom feeds by describing what they want to watch in their own words. By tapping the plus icon at the top of the Home Feed, viewers can enter specific topics or channels they want to check out. These feeds are then saved at the top of the screen for easy switching, and users can change them at any time by changing the prompt text.

Free accounts can store up to three active custom feeds, while YouTube Premium members can store up to eight, and these feeds are automatically synced across mobile and desktop devices when signed into the same Google account. The feature is rolling out in English to US viewers aged 13 and older who have search history enabled, with more regions to follow.

A key change is that the Subscriptions tab has now moved to the top bar on the Home tab and is now labeled “Subs”.
YouTube adds that it is overhauling its mobile app navigation to create a more seamless home experience. A redesigned top bar now features dedicated default feeds – including Live, Music, and Movies & TV for subscribers – allowing users to access specific formats with a single tap.
