Pokemon Unite was one of the most popular Pokemon games on Android when it first launched in 2021. You can play as your favorite Pokemon and join 5v5 battles against other players. However, the game has been declining in popularity for some time, and the developers have decided to shut it down.
The Pokemon Company has confirmed that the once-popular Pokemon MOBA will be shutting down on March 23, 2027 (via Droid life). The shutdown applies to both mobile and Nintendo Switch versions of the game.
You can still play the game until it closes, and the developers will hold a special event to thank the players. That event will be in a final update scheduled for release on November 12, 2026. During this event, which will run from November 12 until the planned shutdown, players will be able to exchange their coins to purchase old items, including holowear and Unite licenses, that have appeared in the game so far.
Meanwhile, the developers are suspending some in-app purchases as the game approaches its shutdown. As of October 27th, players will not be able to purchase Aeos gems or a new UNITE Club membership. However, players will be able to use their existing Aeos gems and UNITE Club membership until the end of the service.
The developers also confirmed that the planned Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo Competitive Tournament will go ahead as expected, with qualifiers scheduled to start on December 5, 2026. The developers are also adding a “library” feature to the game. Users can download their library data before the March 23 deadline and use it to view “certain records and in-game content” even after the game is closed.
