OnePlus confirmed the design of the OnePlus 16 earlier this week, along with the colors we’re getting. Now the company has decided to share the camera setup of OnePlus 16 with everyone.
The OnePlus 16 will have three cameras on the back, led by a 200MP unit
The phone will have three cameras on the back and one on the front. The main camera will be a 200-megapixel unit with an f/1.6 aperture. OnePlus will use a 1/1.4-inch sensor for the main camera on the device.
There’s also a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto snapper on the back of the phone. This camera offers 3x optical zoom, along with 6x ‘lossless’ digital zoom. OnePlus has confirmed that this will be the Sony IMX882 sensor, a 1/1.95 inch sensor.
The third camera on the back will also be a 50-megapixel unit. That will be an ultra-wide snapper, and OnePlus has confirmed that it will offer a 116-degree FoV.
And finally the front camera. For this unit, OnePlus simply said that it will be a 50-megapixel unit with autofocus support; that’s it.
OnePlus didn’t share all the details, but we got enough of it
Unfortunately, the company did not share the exact sensor sizes for two out of four of its cameras, nor the exact sensor for the main camera. We can only guess at this point.
The main camera, however, is an improvement over what was offered in the OnePlus 15, and the same goes for the periscope telephoto camera. We hope the same will be the case for the other two shooters. The selfie camera gets a jump from 32MP to 50MP, but we still don’t have the details.
The OnePlus 16 is expected to launch next month. Well, at least if we consider the launch time of the OnePlus 15, since that phone arrived in late October last year. We already know that the phone will be powered by the all-new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip.
As a reminder, this smartphone will not arrive in the US or Europe.
