Corsair launched the HS80 v2 MAX Wireless on October 8. It keeps the look and floating headband of the popular HS80 MAX Wireless but changes the drivers, microphone, connectivity and battery life. Here’s how the Corsair HS80 v2 MAX vs HS80 MAX comparison works out using Corsair’s own specs.
New drivers built for steps

Use both headphones 50mm neodymium drivers with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz. The v2 adds a Non-Newtonian laminate membrane. Corsair says that it absorbs residual vibration after loud sounds like gunshots or explosions, so the membrane sets faster and quieter signs like steps and reloads remain clear.
Dolby Atmos spatial audio is still available on PC through the Dolby Access app, and iCUE handles EQ and pre-tuned profiles. One feature is gone: Corsair’s comparison lists Sonarworks SoundID for the HS80 MAX but not for the v2.
A broadcast-grade 10mm mic

The HS80 MAX has an omnidirectional flip-to-mute mic. The v2 keeps the flip-to-mute boom but moves to one 10mm broadcast-grade capsule with a built-in pressure-drain pop filter to cut harsh plosives. Support both NVIDIA Broadcast Microphone enhancement on PCs with a compatible GeForce RTX card that helps filter out keyboard clatter, finger noise, and room echo.
Comfort also gets a small update. The v2 uses slow-rebound memory foam wrapped in cloth fabric, with the same self-adjusting floating headband and aluminum frame. It is slightly more difficult at 370g ofcompared to 352g for the HS80 MAX.
Dual wireless and much longer battery life

This is the most practical upgrade. The HS80 MAX connects via 2.4GHz or Bluetooth while running v2 both at the same timeSo you can play on a PC or console while taking a call from your phone. Corsair’s comparison also lists Nintendo Switch support for the v2, and both offer up to 50 feet of 2.4GHz range.
Battery life at 2.4GHz jumps from up to 65 hours to until 110 hours with RGB off. Bluetooth stays up to 130 hours. With RGB on, Corsair rates the v2 at up to 65 hours on 2.4GHz and 80 hours on Bluetooth. A 15-minute quick charge adds up to six hours.
Which HS80 should you buy?

Choose the HS80 v2 MAX if you use voice chat a lot, want to stay on a call while gaming, or hate charging stations. Its mic, simultaneous wireless and 2.4GHz battery are clear upgrades. The original HS80 MAX still makes sense if you can find it for much less, mostly use Bluetooth or rely on SoundID.
