Remember when Apple announced its AI plans in 2024? A smarter Siri was part of the pitch – the iPhone’s voice assistant could understand what was on your screen and do more about your apps. If a friend texts you their new address, for example, you can ask Siri to add it to their contact details. Beautiful! Now, however, those promises are at the center of a $250 million class action lawsuit that claims Apple failed to deliver some Siri AI features on time. Eligible iPhone owners can now apply – Apple has of course denied wrongdoing, and has agreed to settle the case.
Before you dig out your receipt, however, this is a US settlement. You must live in the US and have purchased an eligible phone there within the specified dates. Excuse me.
Now that’s out of the way, let’s get down to business. The official settlement website is accepting claims until December 21, 2026. The proposed payment is $25 per qualified device, although it could be lower or increase to a maximum of $95. It depends on how many valid claims are made, along with fees and other deductions from the fund.
The eligible phones are:
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16e
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
The standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are not included.
You must have originally purchased the phone, in the United States, between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025. Phones purchased for personal or business use may qualify, but those purchased for resale may not.
The form also asks you to confirm that you have purchased the phone and expects various Siri Apple Intelligence features that you did not receive. Simply owning one of these models does not qualify you.
Have your serial number ready
Go to the settlement website and select File A Claim. You will need your contact details and information to verify the eligible device, including its serial number. On iPhone, open Settings, then General, then About. You can also find the number on the original packaging, receipt or invoice.
If you bought more than one qualifying phone, the site says to submit a separate claim form for each. Complete the process by December 21 – receiving a settlement notification does not automatically put you on the hook for payment.
The money does not arrive immediately
A final approval hearing is currently scheduled for February 24, 2027. Payments are subject to approval, and any appeal could mean another wait. You don’t have to wait for the hearing to apply, mind you. If you qualify, get your claim in by December 21st, then keep an eye on the settlement website for payment updates.
