The KeyboaStick from the Korean manufacturer FunOrNothing instantly turns a boring keyboard into fun, and a fun keyboard into awesome.

It is a well-designed model that comes in different flavors. The standard version replaces WASD keycaps and turns it into a small joystick. The joints press in place most of the time, and it is designed so forgivingly that it presses well on older, not perfectly calibrated machines.

Assembly is easy; even without post processing, the parts fit together well. And even though the movement felt a bit sticky towards the side, and I got so excited that I pulled the top off, I was still able to get through it Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Emerald Hill Zone without the controller being a problem.

The design has been widely stolen by unscrupulous sellers, but you can still download the files on MakerWorld or buy finished prints from the official RadianLab store on Etsy. There are versions for other keys, and also a quick-replacement version. A redesigned Pro version with even better performance is also available as a physical print from the RadianLab Etsy shop.

I attribute it to getting a Game Over in the Chemical Plant Zone, but it’s possible that says more about my abilities.
