Google’s next wearable fitness tracker will launch next week, the company confirmed with a teaser published on social media confirming the name ‘Edge’.
In a post on X from the Google Health account, Google instructs users to “Get an Edge on your health. 10.12.26” – that’s this Monday.
The accompanying image appears to show a fitness tracker form factor that aligns with the leaked images that revealed the Fitbit Edge name. The device is thought to be a replacement for the long-running Fitbit Charge series of devices. It sits above the display-free Fitbit Air, but below the full Google Pixel Watch series.
Recent reports have suggested that there will be a 1.34-inch OLED touchscreen display with always-on capabilities. According to the same leaks, there is built-in GPS so you can leave your phone at home to track exercise, an altimeter, barometer and some more advanced health tracking capabilities like blood oxygen, and an ECG to detect possible atrial fibrillation. Seven days of battery life is reported, while the lithium-ion battery is replaceable, according to reports.
Unlike the Pixel Watch series, which requires an Android phone for full feature support, the Fitbit Edge will have support for both iOS and Android.
According to leaks, it could cost around £159/$180, while the colors will match the new Pixel 11 Pro line-up. We’ll have the full details on the Fitbit Edge right after Google makes the official announcement next week.
