The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is now receiving the Android 17-based One UI 9 update. The initial rollout has begun, but it’s only Korea for now, and units enrolled in the beta program are first in line.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 series now gets One UI 9
But that doesn’t mean your update won’t come up short. If we had to guess, we’d say the update will spread to a ton more markets in a week or so, as is usually the case with updates from Samsung.
So, the bottom line is, it’s rolling out in stages, and it started in South Korea, but it’s going to spread quickly. This update comes to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The update for beta users weighs in at 483.81MB, but you can expect a much larger file size if you’re not part of the beta program. Several gigabytes are most likely, so keep that in mind.
Your phone will notify you when the update is available, but you can check on your own if you want. You can do this via Settings -> Software Update -> Check for Updates.
One UI 9.0 is a big update, but it doesn’t bring a revival of One UI or anything like that
One UI 9.0 isn’t a major update by any means, but it’s still kind of. What does that mean? Well, it brings a new version of Android along with it, and some new features and improvements, but it’s not full of features, nor is it a new One UI as a whole.
This update brings more customization options to the Quick Panel. You can now easily change everything and adapt it so that it works for you. Samsung has also pushed out improvements to Samsung DeX, Samsung Notes and some new accessibility features.
This update also provides deeper Gemini integration and some new AI features as well, along with other improvements under the hood.
