The Galaxy S26 series is now getting the October 2026 Android security patch
At the time we didn’t even know what the update brought, but now we know. This update patches 62 security issues in total. 45 of these security fixes come from Google, and the remaining 17 are provided by Samsung.
Google’s patches include 9 ‘critical’ fixes, along with 33 high-risk fixes and 3 moderate-risk fixes. The Samsung patches include 10 high-risk fixes and 7 moderate-risk fixes. There are no critical ones here.
The update now reaches the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra devices in the US and Canada. However, the rollout is staged; You may have to wait a bit before it arrives on your device.
The update is rolling out in stages and weighs around 530MB
The update weighs around 530MB, although it may vary slightly from one device to another. You can always manually check if the update is available for your phone by going to Settings -> Software Update -> Check for updates.
Other than security patches, this update probably doesn’t contain anything else. Well, at least something didn’t mention anything. So don’t expect any new features here.
New features are coming with One UI 9.5, and that build is expected to land in January or February. It comes pre-installed on Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S27 series.
Four phones are coming as part of that series, in case you weren’t aware, compared to three this year. The Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra will land in the first quarter of next year.
