GTA VI is coming: 5 games to play while you wait

Some game launches are big. Grand Theft Auto VI is something completely different. It’s been more than a decade since the last GTA game, and Rockstar is finally taking us back to Vice City. This time, its neon-lined, Miami-inspired streets are just a small part of Leonida—a sprawling coastal state that stretches from the sun-baked Leonida Keys to the swamps of the Grass Rivers and the wilds of Mount Kalaga National Park.

At the heart of it all are the main characters Jason and Lucia, a criminal duo drawn into a vast conspiracy after a score goes wrong. But perhaps it’s Leonida herself – one of the most richly detailed open worlds ever built – that’s the real main character here.

It’s no exaggeration to call it one of the biggest game releases of the decade – and the hype is measurable. On digital marketplace G2A.COMTraffic on GTA VI offer pages rose 65-fold when Rockstar Games opened preorders. July alone accounted for 48% of all GTA VI-related traffic the site received between January and July, and the game became the most desired offering of the marketplace in 45 countries.

With the launch set for November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the wait is almost over. Almost. But if you need something to scratch that open-world itch in the meantime, these five games will do the job just fine—and they’re all available directly from G2A.COM.

Grand Theft Auto V: Los Santos Call

What better warm-up for GTA VI than its predecessor? GTA V is one of the best-selling games of all time, and wreaking havoc in its sunny satire of Southern California remains a joy. The interwoven story of retired bank robber Michael, ambitious hustler Franklin and gorgeous bachelor Trevor is rockstar storytelling at its sharpest. Meanwhile, GTA Online serves up almost endless heists, races and criminal empires to build. We’re not the only ones feeling nostalgic: GTA-related browsing on G2A.COM has soared as anticipation for the sequel builds.

Whether it’s your first trip to Los Santos or your fifteenth, grab Grand Theft Auto V at G2A.COM and get acquainted with the series before going to Vice City in November.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Better than ever

Few games do character-driven open-world storytelling like CD Projekt Red’s masterpiece of a fantasy RPG. As monster hunter Geralt of Rivia, you will explore a vast, war-torn world in search of your adopted daughter Ciri. But just like in GTA, the side quests are often as memorable as the main plotline.

There’s also never been a better time to dive in. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will launch on September 29, 2026 as a free upgrade for owners of the game. It brings full path tracing to PC, revamped combat, a restructured skill tree, smarter monster AI and much more, and base-game owners get the acclaimed Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine DLC expansions for free as well.

The Blood of Dawnwalker: Fangs-tastic

This is the debut title from Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by developers who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Like those games, it’s a seriously ambitious dark RPG in an open world. Here you play as Coen, a young man who has been turned into a Dawnwalker. No longer fully human but not fully vampire, he is between two worlds in the 14th century.

Its setting is Vale Sangora, a Carpathian region ruled by the vampire lord Brencis. As with Leonida in GTA VI, this is a huge and intricately detailed world that changes and reacts to your choices and movements.

Mafia: The Old Country – Man of Honor: An offer you can’t refuse

If it’s GTA’s criminal underworld stories you’re after, Mafia: The Old Country is essential. This atmospheric prequel takes the series back to 1900s Sicily, following Enzo Favara’s rise through the ranks of the Torrisi crime family.

The story got even richer on August 14th with the Man of Honor expansion. Set in the winter of 1905, it adds two new story chapters in which Enzo helps a freshly released Ennio Salieri settle some old scores (long time Mafia fans know the name well). There are also new contracts, weapons, vehicles and free ride challenges to tackle.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Go West

Want another rockstar epic to convince you? Red Dead Redemption 2’s Old West setting is about as far from Vice City’s neon-lit urban sprawl as you can get, but the two titles share the same DNA: cinematic history, memorable characters and a breathtakingly realized world.

Playing as grizzled outlaw Arthur Morgan, you will ride with the Van der Linde gang through the dying days of the Wild West in 1899, raiding trains, evading the law and getting caught up in strangers’ stories along the way.
