Vampires are not as common as they once were, but in most places they are not fully protected and it is still possible to legally hunt come October – at least if you use traditional weapons, like a good old wooden pole.
[This Old Tony] on YouTube does not have a good old wooden rod handy, but he has a machine shop. Does he play toys on a lathe? Hardly. He turns an aluminum block into a giant pencil sharpener so he can use his drill to make vampire removers out of any piece he can find.
If you thought the intro was too silly, you can skip the video. [Tony] is a funny guy, and obviously enjoys himself in the voice over. He also obviously knows his way around a machine shop, and the 22-minute video shows every step of making a tool from a solid block of aluminum and a sheet of steel. It’s not as reassuring as some machinists’ videos are, though, as pushing out the 30-degree interior cone that holds the tip against the steel sheet is a bit unnerving to watch. Getting the front assembly tangent to the cone can be complicated machining in general, but [Old Tony] Nail every step. He is now ready to dust any Nostferatu or Lasombra that darkens his door, assuming he has the strength to hammer the 3 inch stitches he makes through their undead ribs.
We enjoyed [Old Tony] since we see him build his own CNC table, only to be ignored in favor of his hard-earned skills. If you like this kind of thing, check out – [Tony]his cutting wit can even enliven videos about boring tools.
