iPhone Duo turns documents into a book with clever two-page view

Apple’s iPhone Duo could make reading documents a little more natural when they’re unfolded, with a new discovery suggesting Quick Look can display two pages side-by-side.

Code Explorer pdfu revealed what appears to be a two-page layout option in Quick Look, designed for when the folding bar is opened into its book-like orientation. A video shared on X shows an Apple Style Guide document stretched across both halves of the display, with consecutive pages appearing next to each other like a physical book.

It’s a small detail, but one that makes good use of the Duo’s wider fold-out screen. Rather than just expanding a single document page, the layout gives you two pages at once, making it easier to see more of a document without constantly scrolling or moving between pages.

The Quick Look interface also seems to keep its controls out of the way. In the demonstration, search, markup and share controls sit on the right side, while the document occupies the main viewing area.

This is not the first time that Apple has shown how its software adapts to the unusual screen shape of the Duo. Apple has already detailed iOS 27 features designed around the folding bar, including angle-aware layouts and side-by-side multitasking, so Quick Look’s two-sided view looks like another example of the company using the extra display space instead of treating the Duo like a normal iPhone with a larger screen.

The discovery is particularly relevant to anyone who expects to use the Duo for more than watching videos or running two apps at once. A wider unfolded display could make documents, PDFs and other files feel closer to their desktop or tablet counterparts, while still folding the device into a more compact form.

There isn’t much more to the feature yet, and Apple hasn’t publicly detailed this particular Quick Look layout.

However, the iPhone Duo is almost ready for launch. Pre-orders open on Friday, October 16th, with availability starting on Friday, October 23rd. That means we won’t have to wait too long to see how Apple’s foldable handles documents and other everyday tasks in practice.
