Jio’s voice-only prepaid portfolio includes six recharge options, starting at ₹147 and going up to ₹1,748. All plans offer unlimited domestic calls, while the SMS quota and validity differ across the available options.

The $147 recharge is the entry-level option, offering 22 days of validity with unlimited domestic calls and 300 text messages. The £177 and ₹196 plans extend the validity to 28 and 30 days, respectively, while the $197 option offers one calendar month of service.

For more validity, the ₹448 plan offers 84 days of service and 1,000 SMS. At the higher end, the ₹1,748 annual recharge offers 336 days validity, along with 3,600 SMS. Both long validity options also include access to JioTV and JioAICloud.

None of these voice-only plans include mobile internet access, unlike conventional prepaid bundles that combine calling benefits with daily or flat-rate data allowances.

TRAI’s Voice-Only Recharge Plan Directive

Jio’s new plans follow TRAI’s directive under the Telecom Consumer Protection Regulations, which requires telecom operators to offer dedicated voice and SMS special tariff vouchers alongside their existing bundled offers.

The regulatory move aims to give subscribers who do not require mobile data access, call-focused recharge options, with appropriate reductions in tariff prices. The October 21 compliance deadline was established for telecom operators to implement these changes.

The new plans are particularly relevant to feature phone owners, secondary SIM holders, and subscribers who primarily use Wi-Fi for internet access. Previously, these subscribers often had to top up with bundled 4G and 5G data plans, even though their primary requirements were limited to voice calls and messaging.
