The first non-Pixel phone with GrapheneOS support has just been confirmed… it’s the Motorola Signature 27. That handset was announced a few days ago as part of the Snapdragon Summit 2026.
GrapheneOS has confirmed that support for the Motorola Signature 27 is coming
GrapheneOS confirmed as much about X while replying to one of the users. He immediately asked if the phone supports GrapheneOS, and the company said “Yes.” GrapheneOS also said that more information is coming soon.
This is a big deal because the Motorola Signature 27 will be the first non-Pixel phone to support GrapheneOS. In case you are wondering, GrapheneOS is a privacy and security mobile OS with Android app compatibility. It is also important to note that it is developed as a non-profit open source project.
This isn’t entirely surprising, as GrapheneOS said in July that Motorola support was coming. It was said that the first Motorola devices with GrapheneOS support would be high-end flagships with Qualcomm’s top Snapdragon platforms.
The Motorola Signature 27 checks all the boxes
The project highlighted hardware memory tagging, stronger secure element integration, and seven-year updates as key requirements to make the support possible. The Motorola Signature 27 checks all these boxes.
The phone uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip and is also promised to receive 7 years worth of Android OS updates and security patches.
It’s also worth noting that GrapheneOS has had some issues with Google recently. The company has hit a snag when it comes to support for the Pixel 11 series, as MTE support has been an issue. GrapheneOS also criticized Google’s new manual process for accessing Pixel driver source code and accused the company of withholding some Android 17 APIs and security fixes.
GrapheneOS is also overhauling its messaging app and plans native RCS support to reduce dependency on Google Messages. It also replaces aging AOSP apps and rolls out new privacy features.
