Nothing is reported about smart glasses – those with a camera and those without

Nothing, the smartphone company that launched only three mid-rangers this year ((4a), (4a) Pro and (4b)), got distracted with other gadgets. Earlier this week it unveiled new Bluetooth speakers. And now Roland Quandt says that Carl Pei & co. are working on not one but two types of smart glasses.

One will be the more capable camera-equipped type of smart glasses. They will have ChatGPT, translation and other features.

The second type will be simple audio glasses (ie they have a mic and speakers). This allows you to play music or audiobooks as you would with headphones or use an AI assistant.

Nothing Headphones (1) Pro and regular glasses

Both glasses will have photochromic lenses, the kind that automatically darken when you go outside. There are no pictures of the Nothing glasses just yet, but they should run out soon enough.

Anyway, the audio glasses complement the company’s headphone offerings. But camera-equipped glasses require more complicated hardware—we’d say the company’s resources would be better spent working on the Nothing Phone (5). And not just because of the absence of smart glasses from the public. But what do we know?
