OnePlus Turbo 7 key specs leak, and it’s a big step up

OnePlus launched the Turbo 6 in China back in January, and now a tipster on Weibo has shared the first details about its successor. According to the source, the Turbo 7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, which is still being refined, and OnePlus is allegedly fighting to be among the first to launch a phone with it.

The Turbo 7 is also said to see OnePlus continue to bring a 200MP main camera and a 185Hz refresh rate (165Hz system wide) to more of its phones. There will reportedly be a glass body but no periscope telephoto camera, and the tipster says the handset will launch at the end of the year.

That’s the same main camera resolution and screen refresh rate as in the OnePlus 16, as well as the Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro, which were announced last week in China with cooling fans and 185Hz displays. The Turbo 6, on the other hand, has the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a 165Hz screen, and a 50MP main camera, so on paper this would be quite an upgrade.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 has not yet been announced, but the upcoming chipset will be called either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro, according to a previous leak. In late October, Digital Chat Station said that a OnePlus Turbo Pro with that chipset, a 6.78-inch 1.5K 185Hz screen, a 200MP main camera and a battery of at least 9,000 mAh is on the way by the end of the year. So it’s very possible that both leaks are about the same phone, keep that in mind.
