Open source hardware certifications for September 2026

The Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) operates a free program that allows creators to certify that their hardware meets the community definition of open source hardware. When you see the certification logo, you know that the certified hardware meets this standard.

Currently, the certification database shows 3431 individual certifications! In September, we added 30 new certifications, from educational physics devices to USB protection and everything in between. We were happy to feature new and recurring names!

Photogate V2

Photogate V2 is a low-cost photogate for physics education. With an ESP32 base controller, infrared transmitter, a user interface, and 3D printable mechanical parts, it can be made and used by educators and their students. A great way to bring experimental physics into the classroom!

Chamber flow

UID US002855

This is for the 3D printers out there! The ChamberFlux is a simple chamber circulation model for improved air transport inside closed 3D printers. It is designed to integrate with the existing filtration system to add even more protection to your space. It’s always nice to avoid getting gross air around with extra filtration.

Cerebus

UID MX0000041

The Cerebus is a pocket-sized device that you can plug into suspicious USB’s to see what it’s trying to do with a computer. You can use this little guy and its OLED screen and color LED to find out what the storage device can do when it’s connected, saving you the horror of falling victim to a USB voltage spike or files suddenly being downloaded.

You can keep up with updates on all the latest certifications by following our certification bot on Mastodon or submit your project to be certified by OSHWA today.
