Buyers must prove that they are actually using the PlayStation to purchase.
PlayStation gamers in Japan must prove they actually play on the system in the possibly enter a lottery to get a PS5 Pro. Sony Japan has announced that anyone who wants to buy a PS5 Pro in the country must meet a number of conditions. First, they must play with a Sony account registered in Japan, which they must also use to purchase the Pro console. They must be logged into their account and have played a minimum of 60 hours on either a PS5 or PS4, or both, between September 27, 2024 and September 27, 2026.
If, and only if, they meet these conditions, they can submit an application to buy the console from October 7th. Eligible applicants who are approved for purchase may purchase a unit starting October 26th through November 2nd. Sony will implement a lottery system if it receives more applications than the number of units they have in stock. The system could prevent scalpers from getting their hands on units for sale and prevent foreigners from buying units in Japan during their visit.
in the US, the PS5 Pro will not be available for purchase at major retailers for some time, as the company is facing a stock shortage. Like the rest of the industry, Sony is dealing with component supply constraints, which it believes will continue until early 2027. GTA VI was officially announced. The game is PS5 Pro Enhanced, which means it can take advantage of the console’s more advanced hardware for better performance and graphics.
Applications to purchase PlayStation®5 Pro at the Sony Store will be accepted starting today, September 28th (Monday).
