Add MobiGyan as a preferred source on GoogleSpotify has launched Memberships, a feature that allows eligible podcast creators to offer paid subscriptions with exclusive content and other benefits. The feature is rolling out in 34 markets and is available for shows hosted on Spotify for creators or Megaphone that meet the platform’s requirements.
First previewed at Spotify Investor Day earlier this year, membership adds another monetization option for podcast creators in addition to advertising, sponsorships, and the Spotify Partner Program.
Spotify membership features
Spotify membership allows creators to set up different membership levels with different prices and benefits. Depending on the offer, members can get exclusive audio or video content, bonus episodes, fewer ads, early access to episodes and access to a show’s archive.
In supported markets, Spotify Free and Premium users can explore membership options on a show’s Spotify page, complete the checkout process and access member-only content without leaving the platform.
The feature also supports displaying member badges when you comment on episodes. Creators can welcome new members through welcome clips.

Tools for promoting & managing memberships
Spotify provides creators with tools to promote memberships, track sign-ups and manage relationships with members. This includes targeted promotions, free trials, analytics showing what drives sign-ups, and exportable member data.
The exportable data includes contact information from fans who choose to share it, so creators can manage audience relationships both on and off Spotify.
Podcast creators launch memberships
Creators introducing membership at launch include The Adam Friedland Show, Making Sense with Sam Harris, The Shawn Ryan Show, Two Hot Takes, The Sculpt Society, and YMH Studios.
YMH Studios brings memberships to 12 shows across its network. Participating creators can offer exclusive episodes, early access, behind-the-scenes content, and other benefits to paying members.

Spotify membership revenue sharing and eligibility
Spotify says creators keep 90% of revenue generated through memberships, and offers a recurring revenue option directly linked to paying fans.
To qualify, a show on Spotify for Creators or Megaphone must meet all three requirements:
- Have at least three published episodes.
- Have at least 100 listeners or viewers.
- Accumulate at least 100 hours of consumption on Spotify in the last 30 days.
Eligible creators can set up memberships through Spotify for Creators or Megaphone.
