The Samsung Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series devices are now receiving a new update, but it is not One UI 9. These devices are now receiving the Android security update for September 2026.
As many of you know, Samsung recently started rolling out the Android 17-based One UI 9 update to its phones. The Galaxy S26 started to receive it, and the same goes for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and a number of other devices.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 and S24 are now getting a new update, but it’s not One UI 9
The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series phones will have to wait a little longer. In the meantime, the company decided to issue a security boost to the devices. This security patch is part of the One UI 9 update on other phones, by the way.
This update provides 90 security fixes for the device, and the update weighs about 560MB for the Galaxy S23 series and about 450MB for the Galaxy S24 series. However, it could differ from one market to the next.
Seven devices are now receiving this update
Just to be clear, the update is coming to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Well, at least as far as the Galaxy S23 series is concerned, and the rollout has started in India. As for the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Galaxy S24 FE will get it. This update is already rolling out worldwide.
Note that the rollout is in stages, so you’ll probably have to be patient. The Galaxy S23 series update will also reach other markets soon, if it hasn’t already by the time you’re reading this.
Of the 90 security patches included, 58 of them are provided by Google, while 31 come from Samsung Mobile. The latter is printed by Samsung Semiconductor. 18 of these patches from Google are marked as ‘critical’, while 2 from Samsung have the same mark.
