The Tiny New Sonoff Mini One Matter-enabled Smart Switch

Not much I can say about this, but I’ll try – it DOES work very similarly to other Sonoff switches of the current generation. This is a Gen 5 device with an output and an input switch. It works via the eWeLink app or my matter and local WiFi.

There is nothing to say about the setup in the Home Assistant, I simply went to my MATTER integration and ADD DEVICE, at which point I was told that I had to use the Home Assistant mobile app to add the device. I did that and the phone wanted to scan the QT code on the Mini One and as usual asked me to make sure my phone was on 2.4Ghz (that will soon be history as the ESP32-C5 devices become more popular).

And that was it – added to Home Assistant. When I started writing this – hardly any entities – switch, power up state – A small blue light constantly glows on the device – that was it.

The device operates from -10 to +40c and is rated at 16A, 100-240v – maximum load 3840w. Dimensions 39.5 * 33 * 16.8 mm, color white and orange. No app or cloud connection required,

But now (October 6, 2026) I see some new configuration and diagnostics entities… time to publish 🙂

But there are still many controls not available in Home Assistant – many more in Sonoff OpenEdge, which is a local website that makes the device available on its local IP address – I checked on my network and there is a local WEB SITE – Sonoff OpenEdge. A LOT of stuff – this is a brand new one.

Among the items that appear in OpenEdge, various timers, including schedule, pool, countdown and random. Can be connected through MQTT, the blue LED can be turned off, inching mode, device logs – it’s a lot! Ooh, update manager… I did that – took a few minutes to update from v1.02 to v1.03 firmware but got there in the end.
