CMF, the budget side brand of Nothing, has announced its first Bluetooth speaker with a unique milk carton-esque design and – for once – we’re not up in arms about prices.
The boxy CMF Speaker S ($59/£49) and CMF Speaker M ($109/£99) are available to buy now and offer a fascinating modular design language with interchangeable panels and control buttons that can even be 3D printed and customised.
The Speaker S is the smaller variation that looks like your standard pint of milk with a hole that can be used to attach to a strap or carabiner, while the M is twice the size with a pair of speakers and looks like your standard 2 pint. You can get either of them in white, dark gray, orange and turquoise.
The control buttons encourage playback without using your phone, as you can adjust playback, track navigation and more, while there are dedicated buttons on the back for power, Bluetooth (6.0) and Auracast with support for Google Fast Pair. There is also a USB port on the back for both charging and lossless playback.
Speakers can be paired for stereo sound in Party Mode, while there’s an app to customize the EQ.
On the inside, the smaller Speaker S has a 45mm full-range driver with adaptive tuning for a 10W output, while there’s a pair of passive radiators to help with the low-end sounds. The Speaker S offers an 18-hour battery life from a single charge.
The Speaker M has a pair of drivers, including a 70mm woofer with a 16mm tweeter and 35W output in total. And a wider soundstage than the speaker S. The battery life is also up to 18 hours.
