Vivo X Fold 6: Ultimate Buyers Guide

The Vivo X Fold 6 was announced in China in June, and its global variant was announced on October 1. Needless to say, the vast majority of you are more interested in the global model, which is why we waited to publish this article. The Vivo X Fold 6 is an extremely interesting smartphone for several reasons. What stood out the most to me is its camera setup and new features as part of OriginOS 6 Fold.

This is a regular book style foldout, not a wide foldout. The phone is here to compete directly with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, OPPO Find N6, Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold, and a number of other devices. This phone has the edge in some ways over these devices, which is also why it is so interesting. In this article, we will talk about its specifications, colors, features and more. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Vivo X Fold 6 specifications

The Vivo X Fold 6 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition processor. That’s a 3nm chip, and it’s backed by 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 flash storage in the global model. The device contains the imaging chip V3 +, and it does not offer storage expansion. It is IPX8, IPX9, and IPX5 certified.

It has two beautiful ZEISS Master Color displays

The main display on the phone is an 8.02-inch foldable panel, while the cover display is a 6.51-inch panel. Both of these panels are ZEISS Master Color Display 8T panels, AMOLED LTPO displays. The main display has a resolution of 2504 x 2312, while the cover panel offers a resolution of 2528 x 1120. Both panels offer an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), HDR10+ support, HDR Vivid, Dolby Vision, Netflix HDR, and SGS Low Blue Light certification.

Vivo opted for a 6,900mAh BlueVolt battery here. The phone supports 80W wired, 40W wireless, and reverse wireless charging. It uses its own FlashCharge standard for fast charging, but the good news is that a charger is included in the box. At least it was in the retail box that the company sent our way. Bluetooth 6.0 is supported, as is Wi-Fi 7. Android 17 comes pre-installed with OriginOS 7 Fold on top of it.

Its camera hardware setup is probably even the best on all foldables

The main camera on this phone is a 200 megapixel unit, with the Samsung HPB sensor. That’s a 1/1.4-inch sensor, and you also get an f/1.68 aperture here. The ultra-wide camera is a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor, with a sensor size of 1/2.76 inches and an aperture of f/2.05. There is also a periscope telephoto camera, a 50-megapixel one. It uses Sony’s LYTIA 602 sensor, which has a 1/1.95 inch sensor size. The aperture here is f/2.05. Two 20-megapixel front cameras are also included, one on each of the displays. These are CMOS sensors (1/3.6 inches), with an f/2.4 aperture.

The phone measures 157.2 x 74.3 x 9.4mm (black) / 9.9mm (blue) when folded, and 157.2 x 145.7 x 4.4mm (black) / 4.8mm (blue) when unfolded. It comes in Black and Blue colors. The Black model weighs 228 grams, while the Blue weighs 235 grams.

How much does the Vivo X Fold 6 cost?

This is a detail that the company has not yet shared. It announced the phone for global markets, but we didn’t get any information about the phone’s pricing outside of China. In China, prices vary from 7,999 CNY ($1,175) for the 12GB + 256GB model, up to 12,299 CNY ($1,807) for the model with the Photography Kit. This photography kit will also be available worldwide, but as a separate purchase, it seems.

Where can I buy the Vivo X Fold 6?

This is another detail that the company has not shared. Based on previous models, however, availability won’t exactly be great. The phone will be available in some regions where Vivo officially sells it. You can use it elsewhere, but you need to import the phone to do so. That’s just an assumption though, as Vivo still hasn’t released the details. Who knows, the company might plan to expand the availability of the phone this time.

What carrier does it work on?

The Vivo X Fold 6 has a wide range of support for global carriers. You should always double check before you get it, of course. At the moment we don’t have the exact bands that the phone supports, but based on its predecessor it will have full support in that sense and should work with the vast majority of carriers around the world and basically all in Europe.

What colors does the Vivo X Fold 6 come in?

In China, the phone was announced in three colors, and globally it only comes in two. You can get the device in Black or Blue options. The Black model is slightly thinner and slightly lighter, but other than that the only thing that makes it different is the color. The Black model is actually more of a dark gray color, while the Blue is a light blue, cyan-like color. It’s called Azure in China, in case that helps describe it. You can see the colors below, which is actually the best description.

What new upgrades does the Vivo X Fold 6 have over the Vivo X Fold 5?

In many ways these two phones are very similar. They also have a similar design. However, the Vivo X Fold 6 brings some notable improvements, so that’s what we’re here to unpack. Let’s see what’s new and improved in the newer model.

New processor

The Vivo X Fold 6 is powered by a more powerful chip than its predecessor, of course. It comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition. This may not be the latest and greatest from MediaTek at this point, but it was until recently. The Dimensity 9500 is an excellent chip, as it has been proven throughout 2026, and it offers great image processing boosted by V3+.

OriginOS 7 folding

Android 17 comes pre-installed on the device, with Vivo’s OriginOS 7 Fold skin made for folding. This skin is powered by the Origin Smooth Engine, and it improves performance. Vivo’s Workbench is a great solution for multitasking on the main display, my favorite so far. Not only does it allow you to run five apps at the same time, but it does so in an extremely functional way. We are only scratching the surface here.

Main camera boost

The Vivo X Fold 6 comes with an updated main camera. It includes a 200-megapixel unit this time around, with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size. Samsung’s HPB sensor is used, and this camera also supports OIS, while it has an f/1.68 aperture. The other two cameras are the same as they were on the Vivo X Fold 5.

Bigger battery

Vivo has also given a notable boost to battery capacity and longevity in the Vivo X Fold 6. This phone includes a 6,900mAh BlueVolt battery in global markets, compared to a 6,000mAh unit in the Vivo X Fold 5.

What official cases are available for the Vivo X Fold 6?

We only have information about one official case for the Vivo X Fold 6, the one included in the retail box. That case is extraordinary, indeed. You can see it below. It is a plastic case, covered with vegan leather-like material for a better grip. It is quite thin and offers great camera protection. It also protects the hinge, and that part is also covered by this grippy material. I don’t particularly like cases for phones, but this is very nice. The fact that it is included in the box is a big plus. However, it does not come with built-in magnets.

Should I buy the Vivo X Fold 6?

This is something that each of you will have to answer for yourself, and it’s not something we can really talk about at all because the prices aren’t out yet. The price of the Vivo X Fold 6 will play a big role in whether the phone is worth getting or not, but it has a lot to offer over the competition to be in the running; that’s for sure.
