ASUS ROG XREAL R1: AR gaming glasses with 240 Hz micro-OLED at CES 2026
With the ROG XREAL R1 ASUS Republic of Gamers takes gaming displays to a new level. The AR gaming glasses presented at CES 2026 are the first of their kind in the world with a 240 Hz Micro OLED FHD panel and are aimed at gamers looking for maximum performance, mobility and immersion – without a classic monitor.
Developed in collaboration with AR specialist XREAL, the ROG XREAL R1 combines the latest display technology with high compatibility with PC, console and the ROG Ally handheld.
171-inch 240Hz virtual display
The heart of the ROG XREAL R1 is a micro-OLED display with 1920 × 1080 pixels, which corresponds to a 171-inch screen at a simulated viewing distance of about four meters. With an extended 57-degree field of view that covers approximately 95% of the focused viewing area, an impressively large, spacious image is created.
Thanks to a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz and an extremely low motion-to-photon latency of only 2 ms, the glasses are ideal for fast shooters, racing games and competitive gaming – fluid, sharp and without annoying motion blur.
Plug-and-play with PC, console and ROG Ally
The ROG XREAL R1 relies on maximum flexibility. DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0 ports are available via the included ROG Control Dock. This means you can easily connect the glasses to gaming PCs or consoles and switch between sources with the touch of a button.
The direct USB-C connection to the ROG Ally is particularly convenient: one cable is enough to use a huge virtual game display on the go – completely without additional setup. Touch operation and control of the handheld remain completely intact.
Spatial display with 3DoF and intelligent adjustment
An integrated X1 spatial co-processing chip allows the virtual screen to be positioned freely, scaled or anchored in space. In the so-called anchor mode, the image remains fixed in the room, while the follow mode always keeps the screen in the field of view.
Electrochromic lenses, which automatically adjust their transparency to the lighting conditions, also ensure optimal comfort. Alternatively, three manual tint levels can be selected – ideal for bright environments or dark gaming sessions.
Bose surround sound
ASUS also depends on premium quality acoustically. Sound by Bose delivers precise spatial sound that reproduces realistic footsteps, effects and ambient noise. This not only improves immersion, but also orientation in the game – a clear advantage in competitive titles.
Light, mobile and future-oriented
Weighing just 91 grams, the ROG XREAL R1 is light enough for longer sessions and mobile use. It positions itself as a versatile alternative to classic monitors – whether at home, on the go or as a second display for gaming handhelds.
Availability
The ASUS ROG XREAL R1 should be released worldwide in the first half of 2026. ASUS has not yet announced a price.
