One UI 9 on the Galaxy S24 Ultra is claimed to greatly affect battery drain

One UI 9.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has reportedly increased the rate at which the battery drains, as one user complained of poor battery life after installing the latest software.

Samsung officially pushed out the One UI 9.0 upgrade to its Galaxy S24 series phones in early October, bringing the phone forward to Android 17 and introducing new features, UI design and more, which Samsung has been testing in beta form on some of its devices for months. Now that the official software is out, however, at least one user is complaining about the battery drain, which is claimed to be significantly more than it should be after this major software update.

One UI 9.0 on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra doesn’t seem to greatly increase battery drain for most users

Based on the report from Sammy fans, the issue with increased battery drain on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra does not seem to be widespread. The report says that one user complained, and was then advised by Samsung’s Indian subsidiary to call a service center and inquire about potential help with the issue, which may imply that a battery replacement is in order.

The report also makes a claim that a majority of consumers who have the phone and updated to One UI 9 are satisfied with the update, thus implying that the increased battery drain may not affect many users. It is also stated that a sudden battery drop after a major update is considered normal.

That being said, the user who made the initial complaint about the increased battery drain shared a screenshot of their daily use after the update, and screen time is calculated at just 3 hours and 15 minutes, with total usage time at 5 hours and 20 minutes, which drains the battery down to 5% of a full charge.
