Panasonic has announced two new high-end PTZ camera series with what it says is the first global shutter MOS sensor to be used in a PTZ camera. Panasonic says the cameras combine a 1.2-inch 5K MOS global shutter sensor with high-speed camera movement and a 22x optical zoom.
The biggest highlight is the 1.2 inch Global Shutter MOS sensor. Unlike a conventional rolling shutter sensor, a global shutter captures the image over all pixels at the same time. This helps reduce the distortion that can occur when filming fast-moving subjects. For sports broadcasters, this can mean cleaner images of fast-moving games in action. At concerts and live events, the technology is also designed to reduce flicker and image problems caused by LED displays and stage lighting. The sensor also uses 5K oversampling to produce detailed 4K footage, helping to preserve fine textures, contours and other image details.

Both camera series have a new lens that offers 22x optical zoom and an 80-degree horizontal viewing angle. The zoom speed can be varied considerably, from about 0.5 seconds for a quick transition up to 180 seconds for extremely smooth, slow zooming.
Panasonic plans to release the AW-UE200 series in February 2027, while the AW-UER200 series is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
