The Samsung Galaxy S27+ may lose ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity, a feature Samsung has offered since the Galaxy S21+. A new listing from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) suggests that the change could affect the upcoming flagship lineup.
Samsung is expected to launch four models in the Galaxy S27 series: the Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra. According to the listing, only the Pro and Ultra models support UWB. The standard Galaxy S27 is also listed without the feature, which is less surprising since its predecessors lacked it.
However, the Galaxy S27+ missing UWB could indicate a change in Samsung’s product strategy. The company may reserve more advanced features for the Pro and Ultra models, while positioning the Plus as a more affordable option with a larger screen.
UWB enables precise location tracking with compatible accessories, including Samsung’s SmartTag series. Without it, the Galaxy S27+ may have to rely on Bluetooth 6.0 positioning, which is less accurate for finding nearby items.
The Galaxy S27 series is expected to arrive in early 2027, so details may still change. The MIIT listing may also contain an error, meaning that UWB support may still make it to the Galaxy S27+.
For now, Samsung has not confirmed the specifications. If the leak proves correct, buyers may have to choose the Pro or Ultra model to get UWB support in the upcoming Galaxy S series.
