Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 duo beats Fold7 sales by 45% in Europe, with one catch

Back in September, Samsung said that the combined sales of the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra in Europe were 50% higher than those of the Galaxy Z Fold7 last year. Today, the company is back with an update covering the first nine weeks of availability.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra have seen a combined 45% increase in sales across Europe in the nine weeks since they went on sale on August 7, compared to Z Fold7 sales in the equivalent weeks of 2025.

More importantly, this compares the two book-style foldable phones it launched this year against the model it released last year. Samsung also didn’t break the number down by model, so we have no idea if either of the Fold8s outsold the Fold7 on its own — which makes a combined figure like this feel a bit unwieldy.

Samsung says the increase in sales was driven by “exceptional demand” for the two Folds, and it points to Google search trends as further proof. In 32 European markets, searches for Samsung foldables increased by over 260% in September compared to August, with the biggest jump (460%) occurring in the week of September 6-12, compared to the previous week. That’s the week Apple unveiled its first foldable, the iPhone Duo, and that’s definitely not a coincidence. Apple’s device, which goes on sale tomorrow, seems to have positively affected people’s interest in foldables in general.
