A while back, we shared the Galaxy S27 Ultra CAD-based renders, revealing the phone’s design. A few days ago some changes to the camera module were detailed – very minor changes.
The order of things in the pill-shaped cutout changes, as the telephoto camera now sits on top, followed by a microphone, a couple of sensors (laser autofocus), and a flash.
Tipsters simply cannot agree on where the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s telephoto camera will be
Well, some tipsters disagree. Anthony, aka TheGalox, apparently claims that the telecamera is still on. Another tipster, kro, seems to agree, despite OnLeaks reporting otherwise.
The same tipster, kro, says that the telephoto camera remains at the bottom, while the autofocus sensor has been moved to the top. He claims that Samsung has also redesigned the internal structure of the telephoto module.
The company allegedly did this to make it significantly smaller than the previous generation, without sacrificing performance. It remains to be seen which tipster is correct in terms of the order of things in that pill-shaped cutout.
The phone will have a 5x periscope telephoto camera
Ice Universe said a few days ago that the company is releasing a 3x telephoto camera, and that we will get a 5x periscope telephoto camera on this phone. That will be the only zoom camera on the device. Samsung is reportedly not aiming to deliver new telephoto camera hardware, however.
The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will become official in the first quarter of next year. It will almost certainly arrive in January or February along with the Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Needless to say, the ‘Ultra’ model will be the most powerful in the lineup. It will have the new camera platform on the back; this is the main design change compared to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
