Apple’s first foldable iPhone is finally available for pre-order today, with the iPhone Duo going on sale at 1pm BST in more than 70 countries and regions, including the UK and US. However, anyone planning to get Apple’s latest smartphone must be prepared to spend considerably more than they would on a regular iPhone.
The iPhone Duo starts at £1,999 in the UK and $1,999 in the US, making it significantly more expensive than the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which start at £1,199 and £1,299 respectively. That’s a £700 premium over Apple’s most expensive Pro model, which puts the company’s first foldable in the ultra-premium smartphone category.
Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo last month alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, although the foldable took a little longer to reach customers. While both Pro models went up for pre-order shortly after their announcement and are already on sale, Apple has held the duo back until now.
Pre-orders will be available through Apple’s website and the Apple Store app, with deliveries and in-store sales scheduled to begin on October 23.
The initial rollout covers major markets including the UK, US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan and South Korea, among others. Apple will then expand availability to another 28 countries starting October 30, although the company did not provide a full breakdown of these additional markets in the details provided.
Prices vary significantly depending on the region, with the iPhone Duo starting at €2,299 in Germany, ₹299,900 in India, ¥364,800 in Japan and CNY 15,999 in China. That makes it a substantial investment wherever you buy it, especially compared to Apple’s existing Pro lineup.
For those who have been waiting to try Apple’s first foldable, pre-orders are finally open. The bigger question now is whether the duo can justify its significantly higher price when deliveries begin next week.
