The first thing that stands out about the Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W is just how thin it is. Measuring 98.5 x 71.5 x 6 mm and weighing only 98 grams, it has a card-like form factor that feels noticeably different from the bulky power banks we normally carry. Xiaomi has clearly focused on making this power bank easy to carry, and the slim profile allows it to sit comfortably in your hand or pocket without adding much bulk.
The overall design is minimalist, with smooth contours and rounded corners that make the power bank comfortable to hold. The body uses an aluminium alloy shell with a fibreglass surface, giving it a more premium feel than a typical plastic power bank. Xiaomi has also used a photolithographically etched logo, which keeps the branding subtle rather than making it dominate the design.
What I particularly like about the design is that the power bank doesn’t feel like something you need to keep in a separate pouch. At just 98 grams, it is light enough to carry along with your phone without making the combination feel excessively heavy, it literally slips in your pocket.
The magnetic side is where the design becomes more practical. When paired with a MagSafe-compatible phone or case, the power bank snaps onto the back of the device and stays attached while charging. The flat, card-like shape also makes it possible to maintain a comfortable one-handed grip while carrying the phone and power bank together.
However, compatibility with cases is something you need to keep in mind. Cases thicker than 2.5 mm may compromise connectivity, while thick or heavy-duty cases such as the OtterBox Defender are not supported. Devices without built-in magnetic alignment will also require a compatible magnetic ring or case, which is not included with the power bank.
The three available colors – Radiant Orange, Glacier Silver and Graphite Black – also give the power bank a more lifestyle-oriented look than the usual black-only portable chargers. You can check the battery level via the 4 LED indicators by pressing the button. The button is also used charge dual devices, one for wireless and one wired as well as low-current devices and reset.

Charging Performance & Device Compatibility
The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank offers two main ways to charge your devices. The magnetic wireless output goes up to 15W, while the USB-C port can deliver up to 22.5W over a wired connection. This gives you the flexibility to simply snap the power bank onto a compatible phone when you want a cable-free setup, or switch to USB-C when you need faster wired charging.
For magnetic charging, the power bank uses magnetic induction and is designed for MagSafe-compatible devices and cases. On supported iPhone models, Xiaomi specifies a maximum wireless charging speed of 7.5W, while the 15W wireless charging capability is supported on the Xiaomi 17 Series. This difference is important because the 15W figure should not be treated as the maximum speed for every compatible phone.
We tried wireless charging on iPhone 15, it took about 15 minutes to charge 3% of the battery. While this is not something you should consider for fast charging, it is all about convenience and cable free experience.
The magnetic connection is particularly useful for everyday top-ups because there is no cable hanging from the phone while you’re using it. You can snap the power bank onto the back of a compatible device and continue using the phone normally. The slim design also helps here, as the power bank doesn’t add the bulk you’d normally associate with carrying a conventional power bank alongside your phone.
When faster charging is needed, the USB-C output supports up to 22.5W with supported charging conditions. Note that the wired fast charging requires a 3A USB Type-C cable or higher, so the cable you use can also matter when trying to achieve the maximum wired output.
Another useful feature is simultaneous charging of two devices. You can charge one device through USB-C while wirelessly charging another device at the same time. In this mode, the USB-C output is rated at up to 7.5W, while wireless charging can provide up to 5W. You need to press the power button once to activate simultaneous charging, the button works differently for each function.

- Hardware Reset: If the power bank becomes unresponsive or stops charging correctly, pressing and holding the button for 7 seconds resets the internal system circuitry.
Compatibility is fairly broad, supported rage of devices include the iPhone 12 through iPhone 17 series, Xiaomi 12 through Xiaomi 17 series, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra through S26-series devices, and Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series models. The company says the power bank has undergone safety testing and meets the applicable certification and safety requirements.
In practical use, the combination of the silicon-carbon battery, graphite sheet and temperature monitoring is particularly important for a power bank this thin. There is simply less physical space available for heat dissipation compared with a conventional, thicker power bank, so Xiaomi’s approach here is designed to balance the compact form factor with safe charging and temperature management.

Its biggest advantage is the combination of a 6 mm slim body, 98-gram weight and magnetic wireless charging, which makes it much easier to carry with your phone than a conventional power bank. If you regularly want a small backup battery that you can simply snap to your phone when required, this form factor makes a lot of sense. Xiaomi itself positions it primarily as a lightweight, portable solution for on-the-go power replenishment.
The magnetic charging experience is also convenient, particularly with a compatible MagSafe device or case. The 15W wireless charging capability gives Xiaomi-compatible devices more flexibility, while the 22.5W USB-C output provides a faster wired option when speed matters.
