2026 TGR PHILIPPINE CUP ENDS; GR 86 CLASS COMING IN 2027

Alain Gabriel Alzona wins in the Super Sporting class, Bern Zaragoza wins in the Sporting class, and Iñigo Anton claims the champion in the Tamaraw class.

The 2026 season of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup has come to an exciting end. Toyota General Santos-Davao Racing’s Alain Gabriel Alzona, Resultado Racing’s Bern Zaragoza, and Obengers Racing’s Iñigo Anton emerged champions in their respective classes after four grueling and heated weekends. The fourth and final race weekend was last October 24 at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

Vios One-Make Race Cars (OMR) battled it out in the Super Sporting, Sporting and Legacy classes, while the Tamaraw OMRs went wheel-to-wheel in the Tamaraw class.

SUPER SPORT CLASS

In the penultimate sprint race, which awarded double points, there was intense action in the Super Sporting class. Joaquin Garrido, who started on P2, already secured the lead in the first lap. A few laps later Red Diwa was sent out of the race and into the grass by an errant collision with Garrido at the back, but he made a miraculous recovery, drove back onto the track and regained his position. Garrido later ran into trouble and had to regroup in the pits, later re-entering the race at the back of the field.

SPORT CLASS

Zaragoza won Sprint Race 10 and Sprint Race 12, while Obengers Racing’s Joshua David Marquez took Sprint Race 11, according to the results below. Zaragoza finished the season on top ahead of R Racing’s Mike Santos and Marquez.

TAMARAW CLASS

The last nine Tamaraw Class races were tight, except for a climatic incident on the last lap. Raymond Cudala went off course in a corner while battling Oliver Aquino, giving up the lead he had protected throughout the race. That put David Enzo Ison first across the finish line. However, Ison was later relegated to third place due to a time penalty for exceeding track limits.

THE GR 86 OMR FIRST PUBLIC SHOWCASE

Race Weekend 4 was more than just a series of races. It was a can’t-miss experience for racing and car enthusiasts. In addition to the sprint races, it held great moments such as the unveiling of the GR 86 OMR in a track showcase for the public and the announcement of the GR 86 class for the 2027 season. TMP President Masando Hashimoto also revealed that Rookie Racing Garage Manila, a home for people who love cars, will open in the country.

TMP President Masando Hashimoto during the press conference

“Despite the challenges we faced this year, we continued to race with a purpose. During the 2026 season, we learned, tested, improved and pushed ourselves. As always, we use motorsport as a platform to shape a better future for mobility,” shared Hashimoto.

“As this season draws to a close, our journey enters an exciting new chapter. We look forward to welcoming a new generation of drivers and enthusiasts as we expand our racing platform to three one-make race classes: the Vios, the Tamaraw, and now, the GR 86,” he added.

FAN ACTIVITIES

In addition to the track action, fans tried their hand at the sim racing rigs, drove remote control cars on a miniature off-road track, checked out official GAZOO Racing merchandise, and purchased car parts and accessories for their rides at the sponsors’ booths.

Coming off a successful 2026 season, Toyota Motor Philippines continues to push the limits of innovation for the better. This year’s edition would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of the riders, their teams, partners, and the fervent support of the fans.
