Apple TV today released the official trailer for “Being Heumann”, an Apple Original Films release from “CODA” director Siân Heder. Check it out below.
‘Being Heumann’ premiered on November 13
With an ensemble cast that Apple TV says includes “the largest assortment of disabled actors ever,” Siân Heder’s “Being Heumann” premieres on the platform on Nov. 13, following a limited theatrical release on Nov. 6.
The film also stars Mark Ruffalo (Spotlight), Dylan O’Brien (Twinless), and Rob Delaney (Bad Monkey), among others, who mix drama and humor to tell the true story of the 28-day occupation of the San Francisco Federal Building by disability rights protesters in 1977.
Here’s Apple TV on “Being Heumann”:
They wouldn’t take Judy Heumann’s phone calls, so she took her building. In 1977, a young disabled woman (Ruth Madeley) and a ragtag coalition of outsiders decide they’ve had enough. What begins as one impulsive act becomes the longest occupation of a federal building in American history, as hundreds spontaneously seize government offices and refuse to leave until the bureaucrat in their way (Mark Ruffalo) acts. Bringing rebellion in all its forms to the hallowed halls, the accidental leaders of a movement struggle to find their way forward where no one has ever paved for them. Directed by Academy Award winner Heder (“CODA”) and based on true events, “Being Heumann” is the revolutionary, irreverent and deeply human story of the least likely people who try to pull off the impossible and change the lives of millions.
“Being Heumann” is directed and produced by Siân Heder, whose 2021 film “CODA” earned Apple its first Best Film Oscar in 2022. The film also won Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Troy Kotsur.
